As we approach our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, we wanted to share a little more about us – the moms behind Huntington Moms, Sam & Sofia!
We just want to take a quick second to thank each and every one of you for your support and sharing in our journey as moms!
Hey Mamas!, I’m Sofia! I started Huntington Moms a little over a year ago as a way to get to know the neighborhood and Community. As a new mom, and new to the area (Nassau County transplant), I was finding it difficult to find things to do with my young son. I would spend my mornings searching for things to do and by the time I would figure out what we wanted to do for the day, we would have either missed the events/classes or something else would have come up #momlife!
What I ended up finding through this journey, has been an incredible sense of community, amazing business owners; whom I have come to get to know, respect and build friendships with and the best resources for most just like me! Before Huntington Moms, I spent most of my working years as a Legal Assistant, and a few years Wedding and Event Planning. Currently, I am working with Local and New businesses on Social Media Campaigns and Digital Marketing. I received my Masters of Communication Arts in 2012 and have always been fascinated by the world of Social Media and and what it can do for Small Businesses.
I hope to continue to build on Huntington Moms, by bringing our Community valuable resources, fun and educational events and a real connection to our Local Business Owners and brands that we love!
Hey Mamas! I’m Sam, some of you might remember me as the first Meet A Mom back in September 2018 for Huntington Moms! After chatting with Sofia, I absolutely loved with idea of The Local Moms Network (TLMN) and Huntington Moms – I knew I wanted to be a part of it! Sofia was gracious enough to bring me on board as her partner and now here we are with our first anniversary around the corner!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself! Well my name is Samantha, as you know, I am 29, born and raised in Huntington. I love that I am fortunate to be raising our growing family here as well! I married my amazing hubby Tom back in 2017 & have an almost two-year-old Elsie and another daughter due in early December!! Before being mommy, I attended SUNY Old Westbury for English Literature & coached the Huntington Highsteppers Kickline Team! Huntington has always been a huge part of my life!
As I joined Huntington Moms, there were so many things I loved right off the bat about what our mission was and still is…” Giving Moms The Gift Of Time’! Who wouldn’t love a little extra time during their day or planning some family fun for the weekend? I think our guides & weekend round ups are great for easing plans for moms, parents, and even for playdates!
One thing I love about Huntington Moms, is how a social media like this is bringing positive energy to the internet for Moms! There is no “Mom-Shaming” or negativity…we as a mom group connect in such an uplifting way! I have been so lucky to meet with so many great moms that are starting their own business from home, or working moms looking to meet other moms. No matter what our job title is, we all have the title of “mom” in the end of the day and that’s all that matters!
I am big on Holidays, so when fall comes rolling around, I get very excited! Some things I am really looking forward to sharing with all of you is our Holiday Gift & Shopping Guide, as well as our Holidays in Huntington Guide which will layout all the fun festivals, tree lightings, and parades going on in the Town of Huntington… Keep an eye out!!
