Huntington’s Holiday Kick Off- Thanksgiving Weekend | Huntington & Smithtown Moms

 

As you walk through the village of Huntington, holiday decorations and the traditional massive lit snowflakes hang over Main Street. If there is any town to be in to kick off the holiday season, Huntington is the place to be. And it all begins the morning of Thanksgiving!

 

Thursday, November 22nd

Town of Huntington- Thanksgiving Day Run – 8:30 AM

Get those kids up early, bundle up, grab a coffee and head down to the American Legion Hall for the Town of Huntington’s Annual Turkey Trot FunRun and 5k walk/run around the Harbor! This run is one of the town’s most attended runs and gives you a true sense of community. From people wearing Tom the Turkey outfits to the well wishes for Thanksgiving, you will be really to get the holidays in full swing after it

Friday, November 23rd

Huntington Lighthouse Parade of Lights (Boat Parade)- 6:00 PM

After you have done all your “Black Friday” shopping, head down to the harbor for the holiday boat parade! This is one of the great advantages of living by the water—businesses, marinas, and families decorate their boats with holiday lights, decorations, music, and even some favorite holiday characters! Make a reservation at some of the restaurants with a harbor view or find a spot along the shoreline!

Saturday, November 24th

Small Business Saturday- All Day

Go and check out all the local stores and boutiques our towns have to offer! With great deals and that old holiday shopping feel, support our very own and shop local for your holiday gifts!

3rd Annual Holiday Scavenger Hunt- 1PM

Kicking off in front of Ben & Jerry’s on Main Street- families can participate in a holiday scavenger hunt through town with participating stores! Crafts will also be happening in the Library and Panera Bread for those who want to hang out inside!

4th Annual Town of Huntington Ginger Bread House Competition- 1 PM

Local armature bakers compete to gain the title of Huntington’s Ginger Bread House Champion. Finalists will have their Ginger Bread Houses will be displayed at the Paramount on New York Ave. for public voting. The top 3 winners will receive prizes, as well as having their prized houses displayed in the lobby of Town Hall for the Holiday Season.

9th Annual Huntington “Winter Wonderland” Holiday Parade and Festival- 5:30 PM

The parade will kickoff at 5:30 pm up at the Big H and work its way down New York Ave. to Main Street for all the Huntington to view! The floats will be judges in several different categories—local Fire Departments, businesses, and organizations participate and compete to gain titles of the best Holiday Float! Also, a friendly competition between local fire houses to see who will receive the role of Santa in our 2019 parade!

Wall Street will be shut down for local restaurants and pop-up shops as well as the grand-stand stage where there will be a holiday performance from “America’s Got Talent” Sal Valenentti!!

Don’t forget to visit Santa and hang around for the village’s tree lighting!
